Fall 2008 Support Groups:
Hope and Healing for Your Marriage
Sundays, September 14 - November 16
1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
This 10-week small group for couples recovering from infidelity includs video instruction, same-sex small group discussions, and homework. To participate, the affair must be confessed and ended, both the husband and wife must be committed to investing time and effort to rebuild the marriage, and they must have a referral from a pastor or counselor. The course was developed by Gary and Mona Shriver, whose website is www.hopeandhealing.us. Topics include faith, anger, forgiveness, intimacy, prayer, accountability, and biblical marriage. The local leaders, John and Joy, were married in 1984, have been rebuilding their marriage since 2001 and want to share the hope that comes from God's grace with other couples. Part I: Separation and DivorceCareTM is a 13-week support group that teaches biblical concepts using the DivorceCareTM video series. Healing and support is critical for those experiencing marital separation or divorce (see www.divorcecare.com). This group is the first step for separation and divorce recovery support at Grace and will close to new registrations after the second session (1/27). Separation and DivorceCare - Part 2

Prerequisite: Part I: Separation and DivorceCareTM
Part II: Separation and DivorceCareTM is a 13-week support group that provides a safe environment for fellowship, biblical teaching, and encouragement for those experiencing the crisis of marital separation or divorce. Topics include boundaries, dealing with anger, and other recovery issues. This group is the second step for separation and divorce recovery support at Grace following Part I: Separation and DivorceCareTM, and will close to new registrations after the second session (1/27). DivorceCare for Kids™
Sundays, September 7 - December 7

Cost: $15.00 per child
($10.00 per child if a parent is registered for Separation & DivorceCareTM)
DivorceCare for KidsTM (DC4K) is a 13-week ministry designed to support and help children ages 7-12 whose parents are going through a separation or divorce. Games, crafts, listening/sharing activities, music, and videos will be used to create an atmosphere where children feel safe, comfortable, and accepted. In order for children to be willing to share their feelings with one another, it is important for everyone to commit to being at group every week. Scholarships or a payment plan are available if needed. Space is limited and the group will close to new registrations after the second session (1/27). Safe People
Sundays, Beginning February 2009
Safe People is a 12-week support group for adults who were raised in ahome where addictions, abuse, or other dysfunctional patterns were present. This DVD series by Drs. Henry Cloud and John Townsend will provide information to help develop your interpersonal skills as well as guidance in choosing trustworthy friends and relationships. The Safe People group can be used by God to draw you closer to Himself, closer to others, and help you become the person God created you to be. GriefShareTM is a support group for people grieving a loss (death of a friend, spouse, parent, child, etc.) A Christian informational video on grief and recovery is shown each week (see www.griefshare.com) and small group discussion follows. Men's Depression Group

Many great men in history (including Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther, and Elijah the Old Testament prophet) have struggled with depression and found ways to overcome it. This group will be using the video curriculum Finding Hope Again by Dr. Neil T. Anderson. The group is limited to eight men and will close to new registrations after the second session (1/27). If so, you are not alone, and help is available in this confidential healing/receovery/support group for men only. It provides acceptance, grace, safety, hope, encouragement, and accountability to help you achieve the healing and freedom to live the life of pure desire that God intends for you. We will use Pure Desire: Helping People Break Free from Sexual Struggles, by Pastor Ted Roberts. The group will close to new members after the third week. Are you and your spouse having trouble resolving conflict in your marriage? The Grace Church Peacemaking Ministry offers conflict coaching (meeting with one person to provide biblical advice) and mediation (meeting with both parties to facilitate discussion and agreement) to help you and your spouse work through your present situation and learn to respond to future conflicts in ways that will strengthen your marriage.
