Where Did We Go?
Athi River Ministry
Athi was again buzzing with activity with the Grace and First Baptist teams.
- The total number of patients that have been treated is approaching 600!
- The Women’s seminar ministered to another 60 women including guest speaker Cheri Dobbs, testimonies from our team and special worship and prayer with Alice Moss.
- The Pastoral Development seminar continued with instruction from Paul Virts. 120+ pastors were in attendance again today.
- The Door to Door team had another great day witnessing to hundreds and leading 130 people to Christ.
- The Children’s and Music team visited four local schools and presented to 3000 children. Some of the programs were so high energy our team had to ask them to settle down for fear of injury to themselves
Huduma Ministry
Festival of Learning: Pastor Troy and George Kenworthy kicked off the two day pastoral development conference which will instruct 100+ pastors that will serve the Huduma area.
Highlighted Ministry:
Carpentry
Dr. David Kitonga seeks to give students not only a Christian education, but also practical instruction on skills needed to make a living, so he created a school to offer hands on instruction. Just a few short months ago the carpentry shop/classroom was a collection of concrete blocks with no roof, no electricity, a dirt floor, and no power tools. Roger Wolter and his team, with the financial help of Grace Missions installed industrial grade electrical power, and purchased of a number of power tools in the new carpentry building. This will allow the carpentry students to develop skills that are scarce throughout Kenya. The students will also be able to make their own furniture, desks for class rooms and bookshelves for the library. Our team is dedicated to providing biblical and practical carpentry instruction to these students that they may be men of God. Pastors Troy and Dave joined the dedication of the new tools at the upgraded facility today.
Bega Kwa Bega (Shoulder to Shoulder)
Today a team comprised of medical, door to door, admin, and our partner church First Baptist Church went to the home of a local family to minister to a 14 yr old girl who is dying of AIDS. Trista Wotochek/Susan Spiegle (Med), Caryl Hayward (Door), and Michelle Wolter (admin) joined a FBC pastor and AIDS counselor in the visitation. Caryl Hayward shared the gospel with Tina and her aunt Sylvia. The entire team rejoiced when they learned that both were believers. We prayed for healing, strength, and peace for Sylvia and Tina. Sylvia is not able to maintain a job outside of the home as she has to constantly care for Tina. They subsist below the average income in Kenya which is only $1USD/day. The team purchased some fruit, milk and bread to help provide for their physical needs which brought tears to their eyes. Many tears were shed by the entire group. Please continue to pray for these faithful women.
God At Work Through Us: Team Testimonials
Jesus Christ is Mighty to Save!
Isaiah 63:1 “Who is this who comes from Edom, With garments of glowing colors from Bozrah, This One who is majestic in His apparel [Jesus Christ], Marching in the greatness of His strength? "It is I who speak in righteousness, mighty to save."
Today in outreach at Athi River, Brian Vaughan, Ian Riley and Jeff Gammon each prayed with men who gave their lives to Christ from very diverse backgrounds. These men represented religious backgrounds which are far from and hostile to the Gospel, i.e. Mormon, Muslim, and Maasai Tribesmen. This Grace Team witnessed firsthand the God who is “Mighty to Save”, cross deep cultural and theological barriers as he drew these men to himself with Saving Grace according to His prophetic promise:
John 12:32 "And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to Myself.
So, in faithfulness we sowed the Word, and God drew them and saved them to Himself.
The Holy Spirit Is Moving
The Holy Spirit is Moving Today Caryl Hayward went out with Henry of FBC to witness to the people of the Athi River area. While walking through the street, Caryl sensed that they needed to go to the roof of the building. As he stated, “I could feel the Holy Spirit was moving me.” When they got there they found a woman named Jennifer, who was hanging laundry to dry. She was willing to listen to them, but not visibly paying attention to the gospel presentation. Jennifer surprised them when she said that she wanted to receive Christ. They prayed and asked if she had any questions. She did and stated that she was hesitant to go to church because her experience was that the people of the church disappointed her. Caryl explained that we are still human after coming to Christ. We still make mistakes, but the difference is that now we are forgiven. She was encouraged and said that she had been praying that God would show her which church to go to. Caryl said that he was there to show her. She smiled through tears and said, “I believe you.” She will be at FBC on Sunday! The Spirit directed our path and allowed us to be an answer to her prayer.

- That the new 452 first time believers will not fall away, and will find a good Bible church to attend
