Waiting Rooms
Many of us know what it is like to have our doctor running behind schedule so we wait, and we wait. Imagine your waiting room has hard benches, no roof (and it is cold) plus 250 patients are ahead of you! When our Women's Ministry Group arrived at the Medical Clinic "Flores de Villa" we received applause as we pulled in. Missionary, Gina Stavaros, was thrilled and said the whole atmosphere changed quickly. Some women made balloon animals, painted fingernails, blew bubbles, passed out stickers, crayons and coloring books. One woman read the plan of salvation from a Spanish children's book and the kids listened eagerly. A few women took time to hold hands and pray in the back of the bus. As Mary Edwards smiled and gave instructions, she reminded us that we are Christ's hands so "love on these precious people." Those are the same directions she gives to her medical exam. What a privilege it is to serve in the name of our precious Lord! ~Women’s Ministry
A Family Affair
I prayed that God would put on my heart someone whom He had chosen specifically for me to reach out to. Yesterday He did just that. God called me to a young couple standing on the outskirts of the performance area. Alexander was hesitant to listen to the word until I agreed to pray for his family. We walked through the message and Alexander made the decision for Christ. After praying for salvation I prayed for his family. At that exact time Alexander’s niece approached us. Almendra was very receptive to the word and immediately accepted Christ. As she received Christ her Grandmother Celia joined us. She was reluctant at first, but after speaking with her she also accepted Christ. I closed our time together by praying for the entire family and reminding Almendra to continue to pray and speak to her uncle who has yet to receive Christ. I am confident she will do so. How amazing to see God work throughout this family. Gloria a Dios! ~Evangelism Team
Unlikely Group
When we arrived at the school it was unlike the parks we had been to because it was in an enclosed area. This limited the number of people those of us working the perimeter could talk to. But when the acts ended and someone stood up to share the gospel some people began to leave. I was sad that so many were leaving at the most important part. So I prayed and quickly found a translator. We approached a few children and I began to share the evangecube. Soon our group of students grew to thirteen. Praise the Lord that he led us to share with these students that were leaving. The Lord now has thirteen new names written in the book of life. ~Students
The not so friendly skies
Our crew of 35 headed out to Lima on our scheduled 11:55 pm flight on Saturday. An hour and a half into our flight to Lima, the captain decided to turn the plane around and go back to Atlanta because of a faulty door on the airplane. The captain made it sound as if it wasn't a big deal, but we are sure it was bigger than we knew. It was right at that time, I come to find out, that a friend of mine felt led to pray for our safety. God covers us, doesn't He? Praise him for safety! ~Last flight
