In Our Own Background

We started a conversation with David, the bell captain in the elevator about his eternal destiny. On his own, he described his sin problem that separated him from the a holy God and asked us what he could do about it. We shared about Jesus sacrifice and gift and gave him some information to read when had the time. He asked us to pray for him for some struggles he is experiencing. David said, “When you prayed for me it felt like God was hugging me.” He also said that he has been very impressed with all the Christians he has been working with this week and knows that we have God with us. We invited David and his wife to the coliseum for the festival.~ Kelm Team

A Popped Balloon

We were on the way out of the hospital and had one spare balloon left, already inflated but not twisted into a shape (like clowns do for kids -- Jake Pettit can do some dogs, a giraffe, mouse, sword, hats). We walked by an 8 year old girl and her dad at a snack bar in the lobby. Jake started making a dog for her, and 2/3 of the way thru, the balloon popped. The little girl was visibly very disappointed. I'm convinced that the Holy Spirit popped it on purpose, so we could then present the gospel.

I asked them if I could tell them an amazing story that changed my life.  Long story short, 4 people, including a passerby who hospital brought by to listen (at EXACTLY the right moment), and the snack shop attendant lady who listened, made decisions. It was awesome to be part of that!  Gloria a Dios! ~Children’s Team

A Soccer Game Interrupted

Bernice and I were working the perimeter of the youth meeting Tuesday afternoon in the park. The service was drawing to a close and a group of boys had just begun a soccer game in the court next to where the service was being held. I turned to Bernice and asked her if she thought we could interrupt a game with a brief gospel presentation. However the court was surrounded by a locked fence. The ball was accidently kicked out of the fence and through the power of God, one of the boys had to come unlock the door and go out and get it, thus letting us in. So we walked to the center of their game and asked if we could share a story with them. They replied positively and about fifteen minutes later fifteen boys and one girlfriend asked Christ into their lives. ~Evangelism Team

No time to waste...

In the afternoon I went with the high school drama team to a park near the coliseum. As part of the evangelism team and with the show starting soon, I knew that I had to start evangelizing quickly. I asked an interpreter to come with me and we went to talk to a man and his daughter. I asked if I could share a story with him and went through the evangecube. At the end I asked him if he wanted to pray the prayer to ask Jesus into his heart. He said yes and repeated the prayer after me. Afterward he started talking and told me about how he has a best friend who is a pastor. He said this pastor has prayer for him often but that he had never accepted Jesus until now. ~Evangelism Team

Being broken hearted, like Jesus…

During the program we noticed a woman who was on the perimeter of the coliseum. I grabbed an interpreter and approached her. I sensed a tremendous burden on her heart. She was overwhelmed with unworthiness. We persisted with her to give Jesus the burden and in return receive the joy form being forgiven. My wife joined us at the opportune time and grabbed both her hands. Tears began to fall on everyone’s faces. Betty went on to receive Christ, and burden was lifted. ~ Music Team
