Hombro a Hombro

Just a few months ago, a call was issued to those of us working now in Peru, to come here to spread the Gospel, and to work with our Sister Church. We all prayed and began to raise money, and now we are nearing the end of this incredible adventure together. We have witnessed God’s provision for us all; through the faithful prayer and financial support we have received from our friends and relatives. We have seen over 5,000 people accept Christ, we have learned to witness “cold turkey” on the streets of a land where we do not even know the language, and we have grown close to our dear brothers and sisters from the Callao church. We have seen the hand of God in different ways, and some of these observations have been life changing for people.

As I considered writing a recap of the week to look back on the events here in Peru, I could not help but think of the events of over 2,000 years ago when the battle for the souls of men was set in array by Jesus Christ. What exactly are we participating in here, and how has it come about that over 5,000 people have committed their lives to the Savior? How has it come about that many of us who are inexperienced are able to see such stunning numbers of people come to Christ? We have seen our youngest children lead numbers of people to Christ on this trip! I believe the answer to this question lies in the fact that “the battle belongs to the LORD”. And He has called us to fight at His side, and has promised us that He will never leave us nor forsake us. He has promised to give us all that we need to live productive spiritual lives in Holiness.

Let us consider how the battle is arrayed upon the earth, and the fact that we are not left even to the gifts which God has given us to see men saved, but rather, it is God Himself who is orchestrating all things. He even grants the fruit which we are so thrilled about. . .

John 6:65 And He was saying, "For this reason I have said to you, that no one can come to Me unless it has been granted him from the Father."

Thank you all for the wonderful spirit you have displayed and for the hard work you have participated in! It has been a great blessing to have been linked with you in this greatest of causes.

Going Fishing

I had an amazing morning with the evangelism team. Pastor Clark and I worked with the children’s team in a very poor neighborhood. There was no lag time; we went from one person/group to another. In about 2 hours, 15 to 20 people became new believers. We had several “hard cases” but the Lord gave victory because one prayed while the other shared. Every person we approached prayed to receive Jesus! It was a thrill to see tears well up in one woman’s eyes when she realized that she was God’s child and was assured of a home in heaven. A young girl standing beside her, who also prayed to receive Christ, went and found several friends and they also prayed to receive Jesus. To God be the Glory!! ~Sharon Morgan

Sowing the fruits of our labors

On Tuesday we went to a park doing our skit we were speaking with some little boys. One boy was standing off to the side looking very sad and confused. I invited him over and I shared the bracelet with him along Hannah and Grace. Slowly but surely this dejected boy was transformed. His eyes cleared and began to sparkle with the joy of Christ. Two of his friends came over and he tried to get them to listen to our story. They wouldn’t, so I said, “Will you share the story with them some time?” He looked at me with fear. “Do you remember what the beads stand for?” He shook his head, but said I could tell him again to know it better. Afterwards he still looked a little nervous, but his face was full of conviction and determination to remember, understand, and share the Gospel.

That night he came up and hugged Hannah at the coliseum. We talked with him between shows. He smiled non stop and was filled up with the joy of the Holy Spirit. He’s been to all of the last four shows and has gone down to pray every time. Yesterday he brought a friend with him, Juan Franco, and both are changed, joyful and grateful children of Christ. ~Lauren Walker
